Start Smart will be on Saturdays at 10:30-11:15 (11/6-12/11).
Grades K-1st will be co-ed. We are limited on space in the gym therefore, depending on how many registrants we have, we may have to provide a second session later on in the season. Practices will be on Tuesdays (12/7- 1/11) at 4:00-4:45. .
Grade 2 practices are also co-ed and will be held on Tuesdays (12/7-1/11) at 5:00-5:45.
Grades 3/4 and 5/6
The basketball season will begin with grades 3/4 and 5/6 having co-ed recreational league teams. Depending on how many registrants we get, we will have approximately 4 teams per age group. This league will be provided in a fun atmosphere where skill development will be emphasized. Everyone plays equally in this league. Grades 3/4 and 5/6 co-ed rec. will begin on the week beginning 11/1 and will run through 12/4, commencing with an in house tournament. Days and times are subject to change but will likely be game days on Tuesdays for 3/4 and game days on Thursdays for 5/6. Practices will be scattered throughout the week for days and times that work for coaches. There will be between 1-2 practices per week depending on gym availability. Games will not begin until the week beginning 11/8 therefore, the first week will be practices only.
Competitive travel teams for girls and boys in grades 3/4 and 5/6 are not guaranteed to take place this year due to Covid-19 and the uncertain number of teams that there may be in that league. The fee will be assessed once we know how many games there will be. The travel teams are for the more advanced and serious players, playing time is not guaranteed. Participation on the competitive travel team will be predicated by the participants involvement in the rec. league therefore, those who would like to play on the travel team must play in the rec. league. Player skills, work ethic and sportsmanship displayed during the rec. league will be factors in determining whether or not the player will be asked to join the travel team.
3/4 and 5/6 Travel Team dates- TBD, but are targeted to begin the week beginning 12/6. (Please realize that the dates and times listed for registration for the travel teams may not be accurate as we are required to enter something in those fields in order to open it up online for registration.)
We do not know yet what the requirements will be for close contact and indoor sports such as basketball. We will likely follow NHIAA procedures, but will take into account number of COVID-19 active cases in our area. Masks are always encouraged inside the building but may have to be mandatory by the time basketball begins. There will be a zero tolerance policy for participants who make fun of those who choose to wear a mask. They will be suspended from playing if we are made aware of this type of behavior. Please make your children aware of this policy.
We do not know how many fans will be able to come in this year for games. Basketballs and high touch areas will be cleaned between practices, and we will allow for at least 15 minutes between practices for cleaning. The protocol is subject to change at anytime throughout the program. We will update this section as soon as we know more.
Please do not send your child if they do not feel well or have been exposed to anyone not feeling well, and especially anyone with symptoms or a diagnosis of Covid-19. If your child cannot go to school due to exposure or sickness than they cannot come to Colonel Town. We also count on parents to let us know as soon as possible if their child has tested positive for Covid-19 within 48 hours of participating in Col. Town activities so that we can confidentially notify close contacts.
